L-R Talia and Georgina

A fashion show held by agency August Models soon turned into a children’s game.
Models who wore vintage from Auckland stores Jetset Bohemian, This Is Not A Love Shop and Peachy Keen replaced the crowd which can consist of rugby heads and jocksters at Auckland’s Cassette 9 on Thursday night.
But instead of taking to a runway in sashaying frocks they played a game of Musical Chairs similarly to Stella McCartney’s show with Shy Child at 2007’s Fashion Rocks.
Huia, a booker at August Models, said the show was an unpretentious way of getting people to see each other before Fashion Week.
And I can’t bloody wait for then. I can already imagine Isaac Likes’ head between Pamela Anderson’s bosoms. The Facebook photos will be totally worth it. I hope you’re ready for this.

Pamela Anderson

Okay, we know that everyone out there is having a tough time and all recession-wise, but is this really necessary? Pamela Anderson’s and Richie Rich’s label MUSE is set to show their “eco and animal friendly line of swimwear, ready to wear and shoes” at fashion week in September. This will be the first time an American designer has showcased on our shores. Right now we can only assume that the reason its included is that the star power from this is going to give fashion week the push it needs this year. There’s already talk of Anderson making a personal appearance on the catwalk to model her line.

Its a pretty wayward move for the organisers but it looks like they could be taking a cue from the New Yorkers. MUSE will show their collection in New York Fashion Week before heading down under on September 25. Still there’s a sense of weariness already, even from Anderson’s publicist, Brian Long.

“The line is more casual, and fashion-wise. New Zealand tends to be a little bit more casual than other places, though the bathing suits might be a bit skimpy for the Kiwis,” he says.

Even Vogue are in on it stating, “it’s an interesting move by the festival which last year had more of an urban street flavour than a bouncing Baywatch-vibe.”

Still, Zambesi, Karen Walker, Kate Sylvester, Nom*D and many more are set to reveal their collection. Look for more upcoming news right here.
